About the program
The LW Baseball Club was founded in 2014 to provide an opportunity for high character kids that are passionate about baseball to practice and play at a high level. Originally called the LW Select program, we rebranded in 2019 to reflect our broader focus to promote baseball for youths between the ages of 8 and 12 that will ultimately attend Lake Washington High School. It is a non-profit organization, focused on the kids and their development. The program is designed for kids ranging from league age 8-12. Players are selected to be a part of the program through a tryout process in the fall preceding each season. |
Benefits of the program
First and foremost, the LW Baseball program offer players the opportunity to develop friendships while learning a game they love to play. Additionally players are provided both professional coaching and direct engagement with the 2 time AAA State Champion Lake Washington High School coaching staff. Offseason workouts focus on team building, speed/agility, pitching, hitting, fielding, baserunning that runs through the winter.
The game season begins in mid March and runs through the end of July. Teams will typically play about 30 games each season. Games consist of scrimmages against other local area select teams, possible local leagues (Seattle Elite League) and participation in 4 or 5 tournaments. We typically balance travel to a few overnight tournaments in the Northwest with a couple local tournaments. We have also had some of our teams put together a travel tournament out of state.
Players are encouraged to play with their Local Little leagues. While LW Baseball Club may practice during Little League season, the goal is to prioritize Little League and any All-Star commitments the players may have.
What type of players are right for the LW Baseball Club?
LW Baseball Club targets high character kids with a passion for baseball and improvement. Players considering the LW Baseball Club must expect to work hard, be good teammates and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on themselves, their families, and the organization.
While most of our players do play within the Kirkland American Little League organization, it is into a requirement. The team is open to all players that plan to attend Lake Washington High School, as well as select players from other leagues as well.
LW Baseball Club is a designed to build the skills of high performing, highly motivated athletes. If you have not previously played organized baseball, you are encouraged to first play with your local little league team before trying out.
